Mike Langford is so excited today that he can hardly contain himself. Watching his vision take shape in the form of Tweetworks is truly a special experience. And today’s deployment of enhanced search functionality and keywords for groups is almost more than he can take.
Hold on to your seats because there is some fast talking and high energy coming your way in episode 23.
Tweetworks Enhanced Search
The long awaited, new and improved search functionality is now live on Tweetworks. The following new features were deployed in today’s release:
- Search for Groups – No more paging through hundreds of groups to find what you are looking for. Search for groups by name, partial name or by keyword.
- Search for Users – Want to know if your friends are on Tweetworks? Search for them by name or Twitter user name.
- Keywords for Groups – Group creators now have the ability to help users find their conversational groups faster and easier by adding keywords via the group description form. Adding keywords to groups also enhances Google’s ability to index your group’s page and ensure that people looking for your conversations find them.
- All User’s Discussions – We realized that people sometimes want to look a little further back than our standard display of 24, 48, or 72 hour listing of threads. Now you can.
- Search a User’s Posts – If you are looking for a specific conversation by a certain user simply go to the user’s profile and the search form will default to searching posts by user.
- View a User’s Posts Within a Group – Mousing over a user’s avatar while in a group will present you with the option of seeing that user’s conversation within the group.
Groups Featured:
- SuperBowl-XLIII (created by @Loreen72) – The group wasn’t utilized to it’s fullest during the big game but as Mike explains, Hashtags Are Evil, and really didn’t serve their intended purpose yesterday. Was the hashtag supposed to be #SuperBowl, #SuperBowl43, #SuperBowl09, #SB09, or #SB43? All were used yet none really did the job of enhancing a conversation. Notice how few hashtagged Super Bowl tweets were replies? Props to @PopDaddy for pinging @MikeLangford back with a multi #SuperBowl43 tweet.
- RedSoxNation (created by @MikeLangford) – Imagine watching the Sox game with friends and tweeting it up without wasting time and precious characters? Get ready for a #RedSox free 2009 season.
- AllThingsWordPress – (created by @FairMinder) – When Jim Spencer adds keywords to this WordPress user/developer forum it will most certainly begin to creep up in the page ranking in Google search results. Fresh content, lots of incoming links and relevant keywords. Woot!
Mike also had a great conversation about Tweetworks being ahead of curve with @JohnRidgeway. Being ahead is always better than being behind.
