We are creeping up on episode 50 and I’d love to hear your ideas for the big five-O show. Coincidentally, the 50th show will be shot on Monday which is the day of the big coffee tweetup. Take a look at all the cool people who will be there and let me know what we should talk about. Should I interview specific people or should I ask everyone to weigh in on a certain issue or topic?
Featured Groups:
- KnittingandCrochet (created by Evelyn Bourne) – “For those who love to chat about knitting, crochet, spinning, fiber, yarn, UFO’s, celebrate FO’s, fiber festivals yadda, yadda, yadda.” This group represents one of those “YES” moments for me. I’ve been using the example of a quilting group to illustrate the fact that my Mom (Mom is a proxy for the average person) will not use hashtags or Twitter search queries or follow thousands of people just so she can talk about quilting. And here we have an awesome group set up by @ebb567 to talk about knitting and crocheting. It’s also interesting because Mark Penn describes how knitting is making a comback amoung the younger population in his book Microtrends. In fact, a couple of months ago I met Guido Stein who very dedicated to the knitting community. The trend is real.
- BeachesResorts (created by BeachesResorts) – “Luxury Included Resorts in Jamaica and Turks and Caicos” I normally don’t like to promote brand focused groups, instead opting for more generalized topical groups, however it strikes me that Beaches and Sandals (below) represent a community in much the same way as Disney does. People look forward to their vacations and connecting with people who enjoy the same experience is always fun.
- SandalsResorts (created by SandalsResorts) – Luxury Included Resorts in Jamaica, Antigua, St. Lucia and The Bahamas
- Cigars (created by BentonJP) – “Everything about Cigars” Just for a minute I want you to imagine lying in a hammock (maybe at a Beaches or Sandals resort) with a rum drink and fine cigar. That picture right there is why I profiled the cigar group today.
