We saw another large number of new Tweetworks groups created by users last week. One private group in particular caught Mike Langford’s eye, it already has 104 members. Wow!

We also rolled out a new notification feature on your groups tab. Notice the new members listed in the sidebar. Be sure to stop by and make them feel welcome.

Featured Groups:

  • 90DayChallenge (created by @AskDKLive) – This is your 911 Emergency Q&A Forum. Only use this if you have an important question and you can’t find the answer in the 24/7 chats or the Ohana community. I will personally answer questions here daily. So check back often. “Very interesting, smart and unforeseen usage of a private group.” ~ Mike Langford
  • WebinarTweets (created by @WebinarTweets) – List your webinars, podcasts, & event links @webinartweets . Keep it short and to the point. “@BostonTweetup, a Twitter handle created by  @JoselinMane & @bostonmarketer, is employing a similar technique. I suggest they tweet events from the BostonTweeters group for a few reasons; 1) there are 220+ users there who have identified themselves as from the Boston area 2) Tweetworks sends out email and DM notifications to group members so they’ll get reminders about your event 3) tweets can be passed to Twitter so you’ll get double the potential exposure 4) SEO, tweeting about BostonTweetups in the BostonTweeters group creates a density of relevant content.” ~ Mike Langford
  • Estonia (created by @krishaamer) – For all Twitter users from Estonia. “Seeing new international groups never gets old. The Estonia group is cool and very intriguing given that is was created by a user from Lisbon, Portugal.” ~ Mike Langford

Make it two consecutive road show episodes of Tweetworks TV. This time Mike Langford gathered with friends for lunch at Chacacero in Boston.

This Foodies inspired show came about as a result of Chris Andrew flying in from San Francisco. Chris is working on a project called Yellow House Cookbook which as you’ll see in the video sounds like a whole ton of fun.

Jeff Cutler caught the experience of standing in line for one of the World’s Greatest Sandwiches on in a Qik video. Just imagine what the line looks like on a nice summer day.

We were also fortunate to have @GuidoS and @RealtyMan join us for lunch.

Do you have a lunch up idea? Join us in the Foodies group on Tweetworks and let us know where we should meet and we’ll make it happen.

If you attended the event or if you’d like to be kept in the loop for future Ignite Boston happenings be sure to join the IgniteBoston group on Tweetworks.

Featured Tweeters: @JeffCutler, @AriHerzog, @alongmbbp, @ChrisBowen, @MattSearles, @leewright, @gerrickg

Meet Chris Andrew and get yourself one of the greatest sandwiches on Earth.

Chris Andrew, creator of the famous Foodies group on Tweetworks, will be in Boston this week. It is only fitting while he is here that we give him a great big warm welcome.  And if you order the sandwich that ranks atop the “Mike Langford’s Top 5 Sandwiches” list you will definitely feel warm inside.

We’ll be gathering at Chacarero for this informal meet, eat and tweet. All are welcome but seating is well…whatever seating is like on a Friday at lunchtime in Boston.

We will also record an episode of Tweetworks TV to chronical the Foodie experience. Get ready to get your beak on!

Tweetworks TV Episode 16 – Handshakes, Man Hugs and Smiles

Mike Langford continues the conversation on putting a face to the avatar. He encourages people to use Tweetworks to create ongoing communities around recurring events. He also urges those comfortable enough to do so to hug it up the next time you see him.
Groups Featured in this Episode:
  1. HamRadio (Created by @Schoash) – Jeff Pulver organized a breakfast in Cambridge, MA yesterday (see pictures of the event on Mike Langford’s Facebook profile page) to bring together local social media folks. He told the crowd a story of how using a ham radio as a child helped him connect in a way that was not possible in his day to day life due to social insecurity. What an amazing coincidence that some started a HamRadio group on Tweetworks yesterday. Talk about long tail!
  2. SMB-Boston (Created by @RobertCollins) – Once every month’ish Boston area social media fans descend on the Social Media breakfast to mingle and hear from a few presenters on the cool stuff they are working on. What a perfect group to have on Tweetworks. It’s a great way for people to pre-connect before the event with people whom they would like to be sure to hook up with or after the event to continue a conversation. It is also a perfect forum to plan the event and even arrange car pools. @MaThuRRell suggested that people tied to public transportation wouldn’t be able to make to events in the burbs but using a group like SMB-Boston people can arrange car pools and find transportation solutions.
  3. SXSW09 (Created by @Tweetworks) – Once a year the world descends on Austin Texas for the South By South West festival. If you are planning to go be sure to stop by the SXSW group on Tweetworks and connect with other people. It’s a great way to ensure you meet the people you’d like to meet. Mike would also like your oppinion as to whether he should put the full court press on to attend.
